No practice Tuesday. Last game on Wednesday at 5:15 Fr Conway against Ken West. Bring a dish to Pass. This is our last home game of the season. Every one should be there whether you are healthy or not. At the least come root your team on. This means you Joe, Brandon, Mamane, Zack, Dan
Game Review The Saints traveled to Ken East Sunday and took as fairly sound beating with the 15 players who made the game. With no reserves, we put together a pack that almost to a man had not played a full game at that position. Anthony Battaglia played hooker for the first time and did a fine job. He was heard to say "rugby is my sport, I love rugby." Laquan and Angel were props and held their own in the sets. Newcomer Matt Bauer played his first game ever and looks to be a strong addition to this developing side. Mike Mererro and Keiten each got a shot at flanker for the first time and seemed to enjoy the new found freedom. Tom Mcquade came in at 8 man and also seemed to like the new found freedom. He was seen making many tackles, and despite not making many practices, was one of the more fit players on our side.
Mike Agro played another aggressive game and was all over the field. He had several long runs and kept our team battling right to the end. Von Von started slow but came on strong later in the game and ended with another strong running and hitting game. The two centers, Doyle and Josh who normally play flanker, had some trouble remembering they were backs, but played reasonably well at their new found positions. Player of the game went to Peter Johnson at flyhalf, who made the most of every good out, and some bad outs, from Agro to lead our backs to a reasonable showing and several nice long double fake runs. The team had a few moments of brilliance and broke the 2 1/2 game shutout with an excellent back line play that went almost the whole length of the field.
Based on the way this season is ending, management is going to have to look long and hard at their recruiting and training practices next season if they want to be competitive in this ever expanding hotbed of high school rugby.
The last game of the season is this Wednesday against Kenmore West at home.
